DAY 1 BAGAGAZRIINCHULUU( ROCK FORMATIONS IN MIDDLE GOBI)

BagaGazriinChuluu is a range of granite hills located in the Gobi Desert of Mongolia. Situated in the Dundgovi Province, these hills cover an area of approximately 300 square kilometers and reach heights of up to 1,751 meters above sea level.The name translates to “Small Place of Stones” or “Little Rock Formation” in Mongolian.The area is rich in history and has been a significant site for various nomadic cultures for centuries.

Historical evidence, including petroglyphs, ancient burial sites, and ruins of old temples and monasteries, suggests that BagaGazriinChuluu has been inhabited since the Bronze Age.It is also believed to have been a refuge for Mongolian monks during the persecution of Buddismin the 1930s. You will stay in ger camp.

DAY 2 YOLIIN AM ( GORGE)

Yolyn Am is a deep and narrow gorge in the Gobi GurvanSaikhan Mountains of southern Mongolia. The valley is named after the Lammergeier, which is called Yol in Mongolian. It is great to see the lush green valley and breathe cooling air in the summer hot of the Gobi desert.

The valley has been eroded by Yol stream that freezes in winter, building up to 8 meters thick ice. Dramatic rock cliffs and heavily shaded narrow canyons let the ice remain till the beginning of July.Seeing the canyon requires 4 km pleasant hiking in a return way.

The first 1.5 km hiking is gentle while the last 500 m is on the rocky surface, hopping over a stream 2-3 times or on the slippery ice if you travel in winter, spring, and early in summer. Alternatively, it is possible to walk the length of the gorge to the other side of the mountain, approximately 8 km.

Eagle Valley is home to endangered Argali wild mountain sheep and ibex.The Yoliin Am visitors see many pikas running here and there. The pika belongs to the rabbit family.

DAY 3 KHONGOR SAND DUNE

Khongor Sand dune is located in the Gobi GurvanSaikhan National Park and one of the Nine Wonders in Umnugovi province. It is located 216km away in the west of the central city of the province. Khongor Sand dunes stretch through 130 km and its width varies 3-20km, settled between Sevrei, Zuulun and Bayan Bor high mountain ranges. The highest point of the dunes is 195m and local people call it DuutMankhan (Singing dunes). This dune makes thundering or whistling sound when sands slide down in the wind.

There are narrow rivers called Khongor River and SeruunBulag right in the foot of KhongorynEls and stream through about 10 kms and create AdagNuur (lake) right behind the DuutMankhan. The area around the foot of sand dunes looks more like oasis, where rain percolates through the loose sand and accumulates on the underlying pediment surfaces.

DAY 4 FLAMING CLIFFS ( BAYANZAG)

Bayanzag was once  an ancient  sea bed which was existed 60-70 million years ago . This wonderful place is  also known as the place Paleontological findings have been discovered. American explorer Roy Andrew Chapman found dinosaur fossils from Bayanzag. His discoveries made Bayanzag a world famous paleontology place.

You will see marvelous sunset here like a fire.

DAY 5 ONGI MONASTERY

After the Flaming cliffs you will head to the Ongi monastery (also referred as Ongi Monastery ruins) is a active small monastery with a temple which was built on the ruins of a monastery complex that was formerly one of the largest monasteries in Mongolia, found in 1760 and consisted of two separate monastery complex. 

During recession time of the Mongolia in 1940s almost 90% of the monasteries has been destroyed. Even so, you can experience the ruins of the monastery and beautiful nature. The remaining 1 temple and small ger museum still hold the candles of the our history.

DAY 6 KARAKORUM – THE ANCIENT CITY

RUINS OF 12TH CENTURY CAPITAL CITY KARAKORUM
Travel to Karakorum, the former capital city of world’s greatest land empire, established by Chinggis Khan. Here we will tour the oldest Buddhist Monastery Erdenezuu, religious complex spanning over 400 sq. meters surrounded by 108 stupas.

It was first built on the ruins of Karakorum in 1586 by AbtaiSain Khan. The site has some of the best works of religious art and architecture in Mongolia. Visit Karakorum museum. Overnight in a ger camp. During this day, you may visit the ancient monasteries and the Karakorum Museum, which houses findings from the 7th-century remains of the Turkish Empire Museum.

DAY 7 AND 8 WHITE LAKE AND VOLCANO

White Lake is a freshwater lake in Tariat, Arkhangai, Mongolia. It flows through the Khangai Mountains. The lake is located 670 km from the capital city of Ulaanbaatar and 180 km from the center of Tariat.
The Khorgo volcano is located near the eastern end of the lake, 10 rivers join this lake and only the Suman River springs from it.The lake is located in Khorgo-TerkhiinTsagaanNuur National Park. You will stay 2 nights here.

DAY 9 ZUUN NUUR

This large lake is the scenic highlight of Khovsgol’s far south. There is excellent camping all around. This blue dollop of water is located 13km north of Shine-Ider village and about 100km southwest of Moron.
You will stay camping tonight or stay in ger camp.

DAY 10 MORON ( TULTIIN TOHOI)

The Delger moron is a river in the Khovsgolaimag in northern Mongolia. It rises in the Ulaan Taiga range close to the Russian border. It is 445 kilometres long, and has a drainage basin of 26,600 square kilometres. Together with the Ider River, it is the headwaters of the Selenge River.

You will stay in ger camp tonight.

DAY 11 AND 12 KHOVSGOL LAKE

It is located 1000 km from Ulaanbaatar by paved road, 102 km from Murun, a central town of Khovsgol province. Khovsgol Lake lies sticking into the southern fringe of the Siberian Taiga on the northern frontier of Mongolia, at an altitude of 1645 m above sea level.

The lake is the largest freshwater lake in the country but the second largest in surface area of 2760sq km with a coastline of 414 km after Uvs Lake in western Mongolia. This volcanic lake reaches 262 m at its deepest, 136 km (85 miles) long, and 36 km (22 miles) wide. Over 90 rivers feed the Khovsgol Lake, while one flows out from its southern tip, the EgiinGol River, the tributary of the Selenge River, flows into Lake Baikal in Siberia. The lake contains 70% of Mongolian freshwater sources and 1-2% of the world’s freshwater.
You will stay in 2 nights here in ger camp.

DAY 13 SELENGE GOL

Selenge is one of the 21 aimags of Mongolia, located in the north of the country. The name is derived from the Selengeriver. The capital is Sukhbaatar. The province of Darkhan-Uul, and its capital Darkhan, is located as an enclave inside Selenge.
You will stay camping tonight. It will be beautiful evening with sunset.

Today you will drive back to Ulaanbaatar.
